Colmes let Hannity control everything and hardly stood up against the outrageous comments Hannity makes.
Intelligent yes. Annoying YES. Always interrupting stepping over most guests so I never get to hear the guests point. Its easy to step over another voice when your microphone is louder then the guests. Even though I am a conservative i guess if i have to be labeled.. But of course we knew that.
What little I saw of Alan Colmes showed that he was nothing more than a living embodiment of the liberal straw man. He helped Fox caricature liberals for 12 years and was well paid for it.
By playing the part of a punching bag for Sean Hannity, the only cause Colmes served was his own. I think I caught their show about 5 years ago? Not many people that can read, write, and do sums, watch this duo anyway. Advertisers would be well advised to avoid associating with this program. Sponsorship indicates a contempt for most Americans. Fair and Balanced is what people want to hear. Not the liberal garbage the MSN puts out. Sorry, but personally, I am glad he is leaving. He added nothing but Democrat parroting of the issued talking points.
While the extremists sell a lot of books, they are themselves a hindrance to working out real-world issues in the world of public discourse. Colmes should be proud of his work on FoxNews. His honorable and sometimes, but not always deferential demeanor always made me — a conservative — WANT to earnestly consider his positions. No doubt it would be cheaper for Fox News — and result in no change whatsoever to the show — if Colmes were to be replaced with an actual man made of straw.
Too bad. He worked so hard and was really such a big part of the success of the channel and show. He accomplished a lot more than anybody would have ever expected. We grew together. When we first started, we both felt like the luckiest people in the world and we both worked hard to make the show what it became, the number one show in the slot and we were both very proud of it — two lucky guys who got a shot of a lifetime. If there was one thing about the former stand-up comedian that Hannity loved was, of course, his sense of humor.
He was the guy you wanted to hang out with.
